FAQs
What is Krav Maga?
Krav Maga (pronounced “krahv mahGAH”) is an effective, modern, and dynamic self-defense and fighting system. It is designed to be practical and intuitive for people of any age, shape, or size. The techniques expand on your natural instincts to develop skills quickly and effectively, while enabling you to address attacks under any scenario. You will learn how to defend yourself and your loved ones, while gaining increased awareness and instinctive reflexes.
Krav Maga & Fitness Center is Kansas City's first and most experienced Krav Maga training center. We have a 6,000 sq ft. facility with weight training room and a ProShop.
What kind of classes do you offer?

What Happens in a Krav Maga Class at Our Kansas City Gym?
1. Warmup & Movement Prep
We get your joints moving, your heart rate up, and your brain online. This isn’t random punishment. It’s purposeful movement designed to:
Protect your joints
Improve your mobility
Prepare you for striking and self-defense drills
2. Striking Fundamentals
Next, we drill the core strikes you need to end a fight fast:
Straight punches
Elbows
Knees
Low kicks
You learn how to generate power from the ground up, protect your head, and keep your balance when the pressure is on.
No fluff. Just practical, usable striking for real-world self-defense in Kansas City.
3. Self-Defense Scenarios
This is where we work the “what ifs”:
What if someone grabs your wrist or clothing?
What if you’re choked against a wall?
What if someone tries to tackle you?
What if you end up on the ground?
You’ll learn step-by-step techniques, then practice them with a partner under increasing pressure so they become automatic.
4. Stress & Pressure Training
In a real confrontation, your heart rate spikes, your hands shake, and your brain wants to freeze.
We train you to push through that.
Sometimes that means:
Drilling under light fatigue
Adding time pressure
Layering in noise or distractions
We do it in a controlled, safe, and progressive way so your body and brain learn how to function under stress instead of shutting down.
How much is a membership?
We have several membership options to offer but we suggest you start with an Introductory Week. For only $40, you can attend unlimited Krav Maga & Conditioning classes for one week. This will give you a great idea of how we train and the awesome ways we help you get fit and stay safe. We have a lot of different membership options for you available depending on what you're looking to train and how often and for how long.
My recommendation is to start with a $40 introductory week which gets you unlimited training in both conditioning and self-defense for a week and then you and I can chat about what long-term membership makes sense for you after that.

Am I too out of shape/injured/inexperienced to train with you?
Your fitness level when you start will not really matter. Regardless of your conditioning level, everyone will get tired. If you have an injury that you think may limit your participation, it would be best come in, observe a class and then decide. Our adult classes start at age 13 & we recommend participation up to age 55 for self-defense. Still unsure? Give us a call.
Should you do Krav Maga, another martial art, or just go to a regular gym?
It depends on your goals.
If you want:
Sport competition
Trophies and titles
Traditional forms and rituals
Then a traditional martial art or combat sport might be the best fit.
If your goal is:
Real-world self-defense
Practical skills you can use under stress
Strength and conditioning tied directly to capability
Then Krav Maga is built for that.
Compared to a regular gym, Krav Maga training offers:
Coaching instead of guessing what to do
A community that supports and pushes you
Skills that matter when life gets ugly
You won’t just get stronger and leaner here. You’ll become someone who is hard to hurt.
What should I wear/do I need special gear?
Wear a t-shirt, workout pants (shorts okay for conditioning), and athletic shoes (non-marking soles only). Bring a water bottle and small towel, too! No extra gear required for Conditioning & Level 1 Self-Defense.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! Click HERE to purchase world class self-defense & fitness for your loved ones & friends.
Do you offer a Military Discount?
Yes! I offer a 10% discount for military and law enforcement.
